Apple Fritter Monkey Bread (Home-baked)

Breakfast, Dessert / Sweets, Homemade/Home-baked

My mom had visited last week and brought a butt-load of apples… why? 🤷‍♀️ I have no idea, haha! But that’s what my mom does–buy stuff in excess and leaves it at my house, haha!

Looked up some recipes and came across this…

Recipe – Apple Fritter Monkey Bread Seemed easy enough especially because it involves using canned biscuits (probably not the best thing to eat but it’s so good! 😂). Also, who doesn’t enjoy cinnamon sugar??? C’mon!!!! 🤤 Even w/ a drizzle of icing! So good!!!!!!

In the end, it tasted great! Even though the recipe called for as much sugar as it did, it wasn’t as sweet as I thought it would’ve been–a plus! Ended up making another loaf for a neighbor… hopefully they don’t have some sort of special diet (but I wouldn’t be surprised, I mean, we do live in LA–where all the trending diets are in full force 😂).

Eli says to make it w/o the apples the next time… I agree. But it’s dangerous for me to make things like this at home… because I’ll eat it like there’s no tomorrow 😖😫

USA Donuts & Croissants (Panorama City, CA)

Breakfast, Dessert / Sweets

Dropped by in here because a friend was craving something sweet.

Been to other USA Donuts but don’t recall them serving Hispanic related drinks (i.e. Chamango)… What???

I was too full from just have late lunch and couldn’t consume that big of a fruit drink at the time, but I am looking forward to going back for some Chamango!!

Another awesome thing about this place is that it had a TV and it was set-up in a way where ppl could be there hanging out and catch a game while having their doughnuts and and juice 😜 Reminded me of a bar but instead of alcohol, it’s doughy goodness! 😂

We ended up just getting a glazed twist and a couple donut holes… I know, nothing special but it satisfied the craving 😁🍩

On top of everything else, the Latin/Hispanic girl that helped us was SUPER friendly and nice!! What more can one ask for in excellent customer service?? THUMBS UP!! 👍👍

Beep’s Diner (Van Nuys, CA)

Breakfast, Diner

I’m going through a waffle phase at the moment… It’s literally the first thing I think of to eat in the morning (or afternoon 😀 )!

Today, I made my way to Beep’s Diner. I’ve had this place on my radar for a while and think I may have gone here years ago w/ a friend but don’t recall much about it (shrugs).

Though I had this bookmarked in my Yelp app, it came up because I was in the area and was specifically looking for a waffle! Haha! Just thinking about it now makes me want to get another waffle 😛

I can’t say that it’s the best waffle I’ve ever had (it was slightly burnt on the outer edge of one tiny side) but for $5, you just can’t beat that!! I mean, c’mon (!!), $5!! And it was a total of $6 something w/ coffee… WHA??

Now, keep in mind that this is not a fancy place. It’s an establishment that’s been around for over fifty years and it is a place to get inexpensive, decent food on the go–a diner that’s part of a community and have their regulars.

While I was there, there was a consistent flow of patrons going in and out… Always a good sign 🙂

The service–the service was definitely more than I would expect from a place like that. The person who helped me was friendly and smiling–which should be the norm but, unfortunately, it’s not. You order at a counter and they bring the food out to you–no number is given, but your name is taken for the order.

What’s great about this place is that they serve breakfast ALL DAY!!! Yes! To all those breakfast-lovin’ junkies, you can wake up late and still grab eggs and pancakes. Again, prices are great!

CONCLUSION: You’ll definitely find me here again soon! If not for waffles, maybe for fries! 😀
